Soaking up the Sun

Soaking up the sun

Soaking up the Sun.
Image taken at a 3 day Chinese Wedding celebration in Shaanxi Province China. These gentlemen are between the ages of 75 and 90; they are just sitting or squatting there outside the brides home waiting patiently in the sunshine until they are called to sit down for their wedding lunch. The round sunglasses being modeled by the two gentlemen are really cool, the lenses are made out of ‘Stone’, they are ground and polished so well that they let in the light but protect the eyes and the coolness of the stone keeps the eyes cool in the blistering sunshine. Fantastic, so I bought myself a set too πŸ™‚

  1. Another great photo out of China from the hands of a maestro…an unusual and interesting grouping set off by those lovely burnt orange tiles……do you tone map some of your pictures, Mark….the detail is very tactile.

    • Hi John
Most images are left untouched, if anything a slight contrast change or a colour rendition in a mono image. This image had a slight increase to mid tone structure..I don’t like working in post processing because it takes so much time and its hard to know when to stop, so, I like to try and hit the image first time in my minds eye before hitting the shutter πŸ™‚ Back to old film days i guess. I find I don’t take so many images these days even when using a digital format, eyes and taste have become picky πŸ™‚

      Cheers
      Mark
