I grew up hearing stories of the French Concession in Shanghai, my Mum went to an American school in the area many years ago and left at the age of 16 for Australia. The stories make the area sound so grand would love to see pictures of Victoria style building if they are around.
Many of the old buildings in the French concession, tenements and Villa’s have now been turned into high end bars and restaurants, the larger ones on the Bund are now 5 Star hotels, Banks and High End Luxury Stores. If you have an address, street names, I could see if the buildings are still there and take some shots for you as a memory for your mum…Let me know if you’re interested, it would be no trouble for me because I live in Puxi.
